A NOTE ON SIMPLE a-POINTS OF L-FUNCTIONS

We prove, subject to certain hypotheses, that a positive proportion of the a-points of the Riemann zeta-function and Dirichlet L-functions with primitive characters are simple and discuss corresponding results for other functions in the Selberg class. We also prove an unconditional result of this type for the a-points in fixed strips to the right of the line s = 1/2.

A Note on the Fourth Moment of Dirichlet L-functions

For χ a Dirichlet character (mod q), the moments of L(s, χ) have many applications, for example to the distribution of primes in the arithmetic progressions to modulus q. The asymptotic formula of the fourth power moment in the q-aspect has been obtained by Heath-Brown [1], for q prime, and more recently by Soundararajan [5] for general q. Following Soundararajan’s work, Young [7] pushed the re...

A Note on the Second Moment of Automorphic L-functions

We obtain the formula for the twisted harmonic second moment of the L-functions associated with primitive Hecke eigenforms of weight 2. A consequence of our mean value theorem is reminiscent of recent results of Conrey and Young on the reciprocity formula for the twisted second moment of Dirichlet L-functions.

A Note on Conjugate Functions

1. Statement of results. The purpose of this note is to discuss as simply as possible a generalization of the classical theorem of M. Riesz2 on the integrability of the conjugate functions of functions in LP, and to point out some of the consequences for Fourier series. Suppose that(t) is a non-negative, convex function defined for t^O with (2t) ̂K<p(t) ior some constant K. Th...

A Note on L-packets

One of the fundamental problems of local harmonic analysis is to classify the set Π(G) of equivalence classes of irreducible representations of G(F ). The problem separates naturally into two parts. The first is to establish the local Langlands correspondence. This conjecture of Langlands asserts that Π(G) is a disjoint union of finite subsets Πφ, indexed by (equivalence classes of) Langlands p...
